Earlier this week, we had our final review day and I want to say a huge thank you to all of the parents/carers, staff and students who participated in the facilitated focus groups. The information that was gathered throughout these processes contributed to the development of clear and concise goals and key improvement strategies for our school. Our independent reviewer will collate all the information gathered to complete the review process and support us to finalise our School Strategic Plan and targets. I will share this with our community once it has been finalised and endorsed by school council.
Ballot papers for our School Council Election were posted home on February 18. All ballots must be received by the school according to the process detailed on the information sent home by 4pm on Wednesday, March 3rd. I again thank all of our nominated candidates and encourage all parents/carers to submit their ballot paper and contribute to the election process. If you have any questions please contact the school office for support.
One of the many benefits of the School Review process was the privileged time to work collaboratively with Jessie Hand and Frank Vetere as part of the panel. As the three precinct principals, we share a vision for collaborative leadership and the development of strong learning pathways not only through the transition from Year 6-7, but for all of our students at all stages of learning. Next week, Frank and I will join the Footscray City PS school review panel as they begin their review. One outcome of the aligned review process is that Footscray PS, Footscray City PS and Footscray High will share a strategic plan goal and work collaboratively across the precinct to enact that goal over the coming four years.
Aquaculture is the farming and breeding of water creatures including fish, eels, shellfish and plants for food and other human use. Aboriginal people are pioneers of aquaculture and there are examples across the Country of sophisticated fish trapping systems that are thousands of years old. Famous examples are Budj Bim on Gunditjmara Country and the Brewarrina Fish Traps on Ngemba Country in NSW.
Hi Everyone! We hope 2021 has got off to an excellent start for you.
We are currenting calling for volunteers to become Class Representatives.
Supported as part of the FPS Social Club network, Class Reps help with family communication, class activities, and wider-school initiatives. In return you will become part of a friendly volunteer team, get to know your class teacher and students, and be kept informed of school events and initiatives.
Depending on class requirements, you may get involved in:
• Organising parents to help with in-class reading
• Helping with class or grade incursions and excursions
• Liaising with the class rep team to support fundraising (e.g. year-level cake stall)
• Organising simple social gatherings (e.g. class holiday playdate, picnic on the school oval)
• Meeting semi-regularly with FPS staff and other class reps to share ideas.
What else do I need to know?
• The class rep role can be shared. Sometimes two heads are better than one!
• Class reps become general members of the FPS Social Club and are connected with the school-wide class rep team
• Class reps will receive support and information to make communication with other parents/carers easy!
How do I find out more?
Email the FPS Social Club on email@example.com and we’ll be happy to answer any questions, or call you to have a chat.
How do I get involved?
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org by Wednesday 5th March to register your interest in becoming a class rep.
Please include your full name, mobile number, email address, child’s name and class.
We'd love you to be involved!
We are planning for a swimming carnival to take place in February 2022 and will confirm this once pool bookings open for the new year early next term. The swimming carnival will create a more inclusive approach to swimming trials along with providing an opportunity for swimmers of all levels to have a welcoming and enjoyable experience with their peers. We look forward to sharing more about this with you in the future.
