Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR)

What is Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR)?

Respectful Relationships education is a core component of the Victorian Curriculum from Foundation to Year 12. It is all about embedding a culture of respect and equality across the entire school community. The Respectful Relationships initiative is a whole-school approach that supports schools to model and promote respect, positive attitudes and behaviours. It teaches children and young people to build healthy relationships and their self-confidence. Respectful Relationships embeds a culture of respect and gender equality across the entire school community

As part of this mandated curriculum, students engage in age-appropriate learning experiences across eight topic areas, addressing the Personal and Social Capability domain of the Victorian Curriculum:

  • Emotional Literacy
  • Personal Strengths
  • Positive Coping
  • Problem Solving
  • Stress Management
  • Help Seeking
  • Gender and Identity
  • Positive Gender Relationships

The Respectful Relationships learning materials are included in classroom programs for all students from Foundation to Year 6 as part of the explicit teaching of social and emotional learning. Teachers follow a yearly sequence which ensures relevant activities are taught across the year in Foundation, or two years in line with the Year 1/2, 3/4, and 5/6 resource.
